HGF Academy – The Knowledge Center of the Future
As part of our ongoing effort to further strengthen our customer collaboration, we have launched HGF Academy. We are convinced that increased knowledge across all levels in the areas of materials, technology and Lean will be a catalyst for reaching new heights in the development of existing and new products, and in how we work together.
The Journey with HPS and our Awards
We launched our Lean initiative in the fall of 2006 by adapting the philosophies, methods and tools to our operations, creating the HGF Production System (HPS). The effects have been numerous, including improved efficiency rates, reduced scrap, better delivery precision and above all, motivated staff in a workplace that breathes an entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2009, HGF was awarded the Halland Lean Prize. The motivation read:
“With great determination and dedicated staff, the winner is transforming from a conventional engineering company into a world-class Lean company. The winner is a role model for medium-sized companies, not only in Halland but throughout Sweden.
In the fall of 2011, we were awarded a silver medal in the Swedish Lean Award. Later, several customers would also recognize our Lean work in the form of awards such as Ford Q1 and Volvo Cars Quality Excellence Award.
Lean on Us – Our Experiences and Advice
With this as our foundation, we confidentely say – Lean on us! Those who choose to commit to Lean embark on an inspiring journey that leads to the creation of a highly cost-effective company.
A piece of advice from us, based on our experience, is:
- Anchor the concept Ensure the entire organization understands the purpose.
- Acquire competence Invest in the right knowledge within the company.
- Set aside time – Allow the implementation the space it requires.
